Welcome to My Sanctuary

October 31, 2023

Introduction

Greetings, weary traveler. You have stumbled upon my corner of the world wide web. This is a place for silence, for shadows, and for the sentimental echoes of the past. In an age of noise and speed, I seek to preserve the slow, the dark, and the beautiful.

Here you will find my thoughts on the gothic aesthetic, the romantic literature that fuels my soul, and the music that accompanies my solitude. Feel free to sign my guestbook before you leave.

From My Diary: The Autumn Mist

The fog rolled in today, thick and grey, swallowing the garden whole. It reminded me of the descriptions in Wuthering Heights, of the moors stretching endlessly into the void. I spent the afternoon reading by the window, watching the leaves turn to gold and brown, a slow decay that is strangely comforting.

There is a profound sadness in the changing of seasons, a sentimentality that I embrace fully. Why fight the winter when one can learn to love the cold?

Music Collection

My Musical Obsessions

Music is the language of the spirit. My tastes lean heavily towards the dark, the orchestral, and the melancholic.

  • Gothic Rock: The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus.
  • Darkwave: Clan of Xymox, Dead Can Dance.
  • Classical: Chopin Nocturnes, Rachmaninoff.

(Album covers coming soon)

Literary Corner

Books & Poetry

Currently reading: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. The exploration of aestheticism and moral decay is timeless.

I also enjoy writing my own poetry. It is often clumsy, but it is honest.

"The shadows lengthen as the sun departs,
A silent scream within my weary heart.
The roses bloom in gardens long forgot,
Amidst the ruins of what once was hot."
Cinema

Films That Haunt Me

Cinema is the dream of the collective unconscious. My favorites are those that linger in the mind like a ghost.

Top Picks:
1. The Crow (1994)
2. Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
3. The Nightmare Before Christmas
4. Edward Scissorhands

My Hobbies

When I am not staring into the abyss, I enjoy:

  • Photography: Capturing decay and abandoned places.
  • Gardening: Specifically growing black roses and ivy.
  • Collecting: Vintage postcards and antique mirrors.
